世界读书日丨学外语连接世界，用语言展示三亚

【编者按】2021年4月23日是第26个世界读书日。在这个倡导全民共同阅读的日子里，我校英语组教师带领学生参加了三亚市英语阅读展演活动。请让我们一起看看孩子们的表现吧。

“饭可一日不吃，书不可一日不读”。时值第26个世界读书日之际，我校初一年级共计25名学生参加了三亚市教育培训研究院举行的以“学外语连接世界，用语言展示三亚”为主题的英语阅读展演活动。其中，陈心瑜和薄宇航两位同学担任了本次活动的小主持，另外23位同学准备了不同形式的三个节目，与其他学校的师生们分享了他们在英语阅读活动中的所感所思所得，三个节目所获名次囊括了本次展演活动的一、二、三等奖。

“You can skip a day’s meal, but you can’t skip a day’s reading.” On the occasion of the 26^th World Book Day, our students from Grade 7 participated in the English reading performance held by Sanya Education and Training Institute with the theme of “English connecting the world and promoting Sanya”. Under the guidance of their English teachers, Chen Xinyu and Bo Yuhang had done a great job being the hosts and the other 23 students prepared three different kinds of shows and shared their thoughts and feelings after some English reading with everyone presented.

我校的第一个节目是由高雅、李雨菲、赵化溥和刘师伟四位同学向大家呈现的中国古代四大发明配音秀，向观众们展示了四大发明的发展脉络和重要意义。他们在舞台上沉稳大方，表现出彩，最终荣获本次展演活动的一等奖。

Four students, Gao Ya, Li Yufei, Zhao Huapu and Liu Shiwei, presented the history and importance of the Four Great Inventions in ancient China, and they gained the first prize with their calm and generous performance on the stage.

我校的第二个节目是由十位同学带来的倾情合唱《传承》，意在表达他们要继承并发扬中国优良传统文化的决心。他们精彩的演唱获得了本次展演的三等奖。

The second show was the wonderful chorus “Pass it on” brought by ten students whose determination to inherit and pass on the splendid Chinese traditions and culture was told through the song. Their wonderful singing won the third prize of the show.

我校最后一个节目是以“彼得潘在三亚”为主题进行的创意性画作分享。十位同学结合这学期读过的《彼得潘》，精心准备了他们的画作，热情洋溢地在舞台上和大家分享他们心目中的彼得潘，同时也收获了本次展演的二等奖。

The last show of our school was a creative artwork sharing with the theme of “Peter Pan in Sanya”. Ten students who have read Peter Pan this semester prepared their paintings with high spirits before sharing their paintings with everyone on the stage, and they were also awarded with the second prize of the show.

通过这次活动，同学们无疑展现了良好的外语水平和文化素养，但更重要的应是体会这次活动举办背后的深意——阅读。这种阅读，不是“用功读书，努力学习”式的功利性阅读，而是另一种影响更为深远重大的非功利性阅读。只有后者，才能真的给予精神上的鼓励和支撑，才能让人在陷入虚无失去目标时再次脚踏实地走好每一步，才能让人在面对困境深感绝望时依然能坚持下去。

Undoubtedly, our students had demonstrated their good foreign language skills and cultural literacy through this event, and received some prizes as well. However, what is more important is to understand the reason for holding this event, which is, everyone should keep reading. This kind of reading is not that type for getting good grades only. Instead, it is another type of reading that has a far-reaching and significant impact. Only the latter can really give people strong spiritual support, let them come down to earth again and keep moving on when they fall into the void and lose their goals or feel despaired in the face of difficulties.

无关语言，不重方式，阅读在让人享有自由的同时，也会告诉你，你从不是一个人。

It doesn’t matter which language your book is written in or which method you use. Just read freely, and you will never feel alone.

小知识：每年4月23日，世界各地都会举行世界读书日（全称：世界图书与版权日），通过各种各样的活动来推动更多的人去阅读和写作，保护知识产权，并向为人类文明做出过巨大贡献的文学、文化、科学、思想大师们表示尊重和感谢。

Trivia: World Book and Copyright Day can also be called World Book Day in the short form. Every year, on April 23, different kinds of activities will be held around the world to promote more people to read and write, to protect intellectual property rights, and to show respect and gratitude to the masters of literature, culture, science, and philosophy who have made great contributions to human civilization.
